It’s your friendly neighborhood Allied Health team back at it again with another doozy of a newsletter! This quarter is chock full of important awareness weeks, days, and months, we’re also coming in hot with a new little passion project for the team — a fitness group!

So, read on. Enjoy our little update 🙂

The Sunshine Coast Low-Down!

Fitness can be Fun…

It’s definitely still a work in progress but we’re going to start a fitness group! For all interested, it would involve an early Saturday morning (possibly 6:30 or 7am) and a roughly 5km run and walk. Several members of our staff will be present for the run and to keep the pace for those interested. We would have three groups — runners, interval running and walking, and walkers and bike riders — and you would have at least one of our staff at your side throughout the distance. We’re ready to cater for all fitness levels, so don’t be scared!

The first run will be on the 26th of September and then following, the last Saturday of the month. If you are interested, please let us know. You can call us on 5438 1079 or drop a comment on our Instagram or Facebook posts! Further details will come, including location, closer to the date.

SCAH’s Mid-Year Social…

Teppanyaki! Last week, the team at SCAH gathered together for a wonderful night of belly laughs, excellent food, and even better entertainment at Bekko Teppanyaki in Buddina! Click through to check out some of the pics and videos of the night on our Facebook page.

This One’s for the Men!

Father’s Day is right around the corner (Sunday, the 6th of September) and we’re here to rescue you from your gift giving troubles! If you’re unsure of what to get Dad this year, why not shout him a massage? If you haven’t grabbed one already, pop into the practice next week and purchase one of our gift vouchers. (It’s ok if you’re a little late, the massage is worth it!) And hey, we’re pretty sure a quick IOU will suffice if you call us on Monday on 5438 1079 to book him in ASAP.

September is also the awareness month for prostate cancer! And one vital part of dealing with prostate cancer is pelvic floor recovery post treatment. For this, our exercise physiologist, Josh, can absolutely help. Call now on 5438 1079 to enquire about appointments.

What’s Happening this Quarter…

Steptember has arrived! For those unaware, Steptember brings awareness for cerebal palsy. Cerebral palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood. It’s caused by damage to the developing brain either during pregnancy or shortly after birth – directly affecting a person’s movement and posture for life. It is a disability that all members of Sunshine Coast Allied Health are equipped to assist with, and are certainly passionate about doing so. If you’d like to make an appointment, be sure to call on 5438 1079 and let us help you out.

It’s the quarter for cancer awareness, it seems! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Now, this one isn’t just for the ladies — men can get breast cancer too! While undergoing treatment, and even afterwards, exercise and the right diet is vital. If you or a loved one is going through their journey with breast cancer, be sure to give us a call and see how we can help.

Did you know, you don’t have to be able to grow a mo to support Movember? You can pledge to run/walk/skip 60km over the course of the month in honour of the 60 men lost to suicide worldwide each hour. Stay tuned on our Facebook and Instagram pages for how SCAH will be fundraising for this awesome cause in November.
